On the 16th of December, Dr. Lok the family doctor and Dr. Song the founder of Yosemite Clinic have given a lecture on “Health Screening Interpretation” and “Breast Cancer Awareness”, the lecture started at 3pm.The lecture room was packed with people who were interested in these topics. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Lok and Dr. Song answered questions from the audiences with patience, and they took pictures with the audiences.
People who care about their wellbeing would usually arrange for a health screening once a year.However, after they have received the reports, some people don’t understand the meanings behind those results, and others would simply ignore the results. This means that even a part of the diseases are detected, they could still be ignored.
Dr. Lok started her talk from the history of health screening, she told the audiences what are the reasons behind health check, what the goal is for health screening, what is included in it, and what the procedures are. This help patients to have a general understanding of health screening. It also taught them what tests are actually necessary for different patients.
Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumour in women in China. Many breast cancers have a high cure rate if detected early.Dr. Song started explaining breast cancer from the current situation of breast cancer, he also talked about different types of breast cancer examinations and what the meanings are behind each examination.The demonstration of how breast cancer is examined is carried out with the help from a YC member.
After the lecture, there was many questions raised by the audiences, such as the cause of breast cancer, how often should the check up be. Some even brought their own medical imaging for doctors to diagnose. Doctors have answered all of their questions with patience. The lecture was vivid and active, and the doctors were very kind which won them applaud.
